Current Community Outreach Projects
1. Oil Change Voucher Program – Budget: $1,000
This program assists families and individuals with the cost of maintaining their vehicles by covering oilchanges only. LCIU is partnering with Gary’s Auto Service to implement this program.
2. Prescription Voucher Program – Budget: $1,000
Designed to help community members manage the cost of prescription medications. LCIU has partnered with Ehardt’s Drug Store for this initiative.
3. Harbor Share Produce Program – Budget: $200
The goal of this project is to increase access to fresh vegetables for the local community. It will serve anyone who visits the produce stand and potentially extend to neighbors with limited mobility through home deliveries. Further details and volunteer opportunities will be shared as the program develops.
4. Neighbor Circles – No funds requested to date
This initiative aims to foster community connection through coffee and conversation gatherings held biweekly or weekly. The program is currently in development.
Other Outreach Efforts
- Meyer School Collaboration: LCIU provided hygiene kits to 63 fourth-grade students as requested by teachers and the school social worker, supporting their educational unit on hygiene.
- Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4): LCIU funded and is delivering sub sandwiches and all the trimmings to the Meyer School staff tocelebrate and appreciate educators’ contributions.
Projects Under Consideration
Community Meal Initiative: LCIU is exploring the possibility of offering a cost-free community meal. (Taryn from Mama’s in Croswell) presented what a project like this entails to the group, which remains in the research and development phase.

Harbor Produce
“Harbor Produce" is a new initiative offered by Lexington Community in Unity (LCIU) with the mission of providing free and fresh vegetables to the surrounding community. We are looking for interested gardeners to "Grow A Row" in your garden and then donate the extra vegetables to this initiative.Please contact Gail Williams (phone: 586-665-3202) with your questions or to sign-up to participate.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8872 of Port Sanilac
will be holding their annual
Poppy Days on May 8 and 9, 2026.
All proceeds from Poppy Sales go to help hospitalized veterans, widows and children of veterans and to commemorate the memory of our departed veterans. Please help by donating to the VFW and receive a Poppy.
Veterans of Post 8872 will be out on the streets in Applegate, Port Sanilac, and Deckerville.
