MORE GOOD STUFF HAPPENING

Lenten Devotions

Everyone encounters a wilderness experience in their life, many of us more than one. Even Jesus was not immune as the Bible records his 40 days in the wilderness. Since we all have our wilderness experience, what can we learn from Jesus's own moments of existential loneliness, hunger and temptation?

Gifts of the Spiritual Wilderness is a new Lenten devotional will help you contemplate, process, and explore how Jesus' 40 days in the wilderness intersects with your own 21st century experiences:

• what gifts can be found,

• how a spiritual drought can create a more meaningful Lent experience,

• what fasting, sacrifice, and temptation look like in our daily lives; and

• how we prepare to experience new life on the side of the Lenten journey.

Through daily devotions with scripture, meditations, practices, prayers, and "living water" tools for our parched lives, Gifts of the Spiritual Wilderness guides you on a contemplative and transformative journey through the wilderness to resurrection living. These will be handed out in Worship or you can stop by the office for your copy. It is also on Kindle.

UNITED WOMEN IN FAITH

There is not meeting in March.

                                 SEW WHAT?
The Sew What? group meets
on Thursdays, 9am at Lexington Coffee Shop, then 10am -12 Noon for sewing at church (sewing room is in the basement). All are welcome to join us for both, or just coffee or sewing...it's up to you!

This small group of women have been busy sewing. Seventy-five pillowcases for the unhoused were sent to Cass Community Social Services. Twenty were given to the women at Eva’s Place. Now the group is making “Betty’s Beanies”—caps for those at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Port Huron.

GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Our Mission Moment for March is UMC UMCOR Sunday, one of six church wide Special Sundays designated to support ministries and causes important to the entire United Methodist Church.

On this day, we support the United Methodist Committee on Reliefbetter known as UMCORthe disaster response and humanitarian relief agency of our church.

When people face crisis—whether from natural disaster, conflict, or hunger—UMCOR is there to help. But that kind of response doesn’t just happen. It requires trained staff, reliable systems, and the ability to act quickly and compassionately.UMCOR Sunday matters because it sustains that foundation.

By covering UMCOR’s administrative costs, this Special Sunday makes sure the Church is equipped to respond whenever and wherever help is needed—without delay. When we support UMCOR Sunday, we’re not just reacting to emergencies. We’re making it possible for the Church to be a consistent, trusted presence in moments of urgent need.

GARDENS OF HOPE

Join us as we plant seeds of hope in Haiti! HAPI is driving sustainable change in SE Haiti through healthcare, education and employment. Their services address maternal and infant mortality, heart disease, and more.

In 2023 they launched the HAPI Haiti Heart Institute with the goal of

extending Haitian life expectancy. The institute provides treatment and

trains Haitian Medical professionals, empowering them to take the helm

of their healthcare. It also equips young people with computer and English language skills and fosters economic self-reliance.

HAPI is one of the four missions that Gardens of Hope is featuring. The artwork on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall was made by the

artisans in Haiti. The Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church is

committed to supporting Haiti through the Gardens of Hope Campaign.

Some people have already donated to this worthy cause and we will continue to make information available during this first half of 2026. You are invited to place your donation in an envelope marked ‘Gardens of Hope’ at any time during the year and we will be sure your offering is forwarded so as to plant ‘seeds of hope’ in Haiti.

The next RED BAG SUNDAYS  are
March 1 and April 5, 2026

Would you like to give the gift of food to help local neighbors?  We collect food on the first Sunday of the month, often in available red reusable bags.  Thus the name, Red Bag Sunday!   All that is collected goes to the local food pantry, Cros-Lex Project Blessing, for distribution.

Everyone is Welcome

First Time to Lexington United Methodist Church?

Church can be an intimidating place to visit for the first time— especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means in mind, body & spirit at one of our Sunday worship services. You can engage with others as much as you want, or remain anonymous if you prefer. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love, and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.

Children of all ages are always welcome in the sanctuary. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in Holy Communion which is on the first Sunday of each month.
